SigEp Fellow Project

Mission Assessment

In 2012 the SigEp FL Beta Chapter at Stetson University decided to adopt MIssion of Hope as its local philanthropy in hopes of having a more tangible and personal impact on youths with AIDS.

In 2013, FL Beta Brother Alex Beckett applied for the Fellow Challenge. His task was to spread the mission of the organization to other chapters and the surrounding community in an endeavor to gain support for the journey and enlist willing brothers and community members to travel to Africa to build the schoolhouse and provide educational opportunities to the children of Taiyor.

The first trip to Cameroon took place March 2-8 2013. Our primary goals were to make a foothold in the area(s), assess living conditions in the city of Douala and village of Taiyor, provide insight for future projects, and aid in the construction of the church and school buildings.

In addtion to accomplishing what we set out to do, we were also able to provide medical aid to over 150 inhabitants, purify Taiyor's water reservoir and experience the culture's history and rituals first-hand as honored guests in Ékpè.
